Your data
Privacy notice
Stillwater Trout Fishing UK is a free site run by Richard Crispin, who is the "data controller" for the information you give us under UK GDPR. In short: we only collect what we need, we keep it safe, and we never sell or share your details.
What we collect
Anglers: your name, email and password (stored scrambled — nobody can read it), an optional address, your newsletter choice, and any reports and catch photos you submit.
Fishery staff: your name, email, role, fishery and contact phone, plus the reports and photos you post.
All visitors: a simple count of page visits. No advertising trackers.
Why we use it
To run your account, show your approved reports and photos, and contact you about them. That's the service you signed up for.
Newsletters and competition news are only sent if you tick the box to say yes. It's never ticked for you, and you can change your mind at any time.
What other people see
Your email, address and phone number are never shown publicly. Approved reports show your first name or display name only. Angler reports and photos are checked by the site owner before anything goes live.
How we protect it
- Data is stored in a secure, access-controlled database hosted by our provider.
- Only the site owner can view angler contact details; each angler can only see their own.
- Photos are stored privately and shown through links that expire.
- Fishery staff accounts are personally checked and approved before they can post.
- Your data is never sold, rented or passed to tackle companies, sponsors or anyone else.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, your personal details are removed within one month. Fishing reports may be kept without your name as part of the fishery's history.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or stop receiving newsletters. Just email us and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
